quality wood casement windows were installed during construction of
this fine, custom built home. In spite of careful attention to detail and an
ongoing investment of time and money the owners were losing the battle to save
these windows. John was able to restore the windows and add value by eliminating
the ongoing maintenance requirements. These windows will continue to provide the
comfort, energy efficiency and investment the homeowners anticipated at the time
they purchased these windows. After several years of observing ongoing
deterioration the homeowners are now able to invest their resources in other
projects around their home.
Many of the windows in this home were in a state of failure. The condition of the
units pictured here were typical for this home.
The lack of an effective seal was allowing moisture to penetrate the wood and was
hastening the deterioration of these windows. Frequently when a sash reaches
this stage it is no longer square and no longer fits properly into the window frame
resulting in a lack of energy efficiency. In extreme cases the sealed unit will
fail entirely, necessitating replacement of the sealed unit, an additional
expense and inconvenience. All the sash and frames in this home were saved.
